| In the simplest terms, Marketing is the exchange of something of value for something wanted or needed.
The offer is the single most important element in the marketing mix. Even the most creative and dramatic advertising cannot sell a fundamentally weak offering.
Successful Promotions to get your target market to exchange their time to use your Library Services (Product offers) start with a Marketing Plan. As explained in my book Blueprint for your Library's Marketing Plan:
A Marketing Plan customized for your organization will use your strategic plan to:
- Select target markets for a campaign
- Develop Product, Positioning, Price, Place, Partnership and Promotional strategies
- Develop tactical actions with timelines
- Outline steps to evaluate the strategies and tactical actions
Assistance in developing a strategic plan is available, if needed.
We also offer Marketing workshops for staff. Workshops are highly participatory. They provide attendees with techniques to select a target market; tailor programs and services (Product offers) to meet market needs; assess the need to augment service delivery training for staff; and work with consultants and/or in-house staff to design marketing promotional materials and a complimentary public relations campaign. These are the main components of the Marketing plan.
